Ivan Artigas, the absolute winner of the KV Skimo Espot Ski Challenge, rebels his secret to get his impressive time, 48 minutes with 26 seconds, in the vertical chrono.
Hi Ivan, could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Ivan Artigas and I am from Vilanova and Geltrú. I have a degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, and a professor of Physical Education at Vilafranca Institute.
I am passionate about physical activity and sport in the Natural Environment. I practice Mountain Bike, mountaineering, ultra deep racing and, above all, Mountain skiing!
I usually ski with the whole family in the Vall d'Aran, but this year we took the season pass from Gran Pallars, and we have skied everything to Espot Esqui.
How many days do you usually go skiing per season and where? Do you always do Skimo?
I try to climb every weekend and holidays to do cross-country skiing, and we alternate with the Alpine Ski family.
Do you have any funny anecdotes from your chrono-scoring? Have you trained a lot to get your brand?
I tried the chronometer several times for different itineraries to check which was the fastest. The day I made the best time, the station was closed because it was very windy, so I had all the clues for myself just to be able to do the chrono.
How useful are you to the applications of FGC stations?
I find it very useful and I have used it a lot during the season, especially to check the condition of the tracks and also to know the prediction of the weather.
Well that's it. Thank you very much for your dedication, and we wish you much enjoyment of your weekend at Hotel Port Ainé!
