The company's president, Carles Ruiz Novella, received the award from the head of the police region, Chief Superintendent Daniel Pérez.
The Generalitat Police also publicly congratulated two skiers from Boí Taüll who collaborated in a mountain rescue in the 2023-24 season.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has today received recognition from the Mossos d’Esquadra for the excellent collaboration that FGC’s ski and mountain resorts, in this case Boí Taüll, Espot, Port Ainé and La Molina, maintain with the Alt Pirineu and Aran Police Region. The president of Ferrocarrils, Carles Ruiz Novella, received the plaque, proposed by the police region itself, from its top manager, Chief Superintendent Daniel Pérez.
Ruiz highlighted that this recognition “is, above all, for the workers of Ferrocarrils’ ski and mountain resorts who, with their effort and professionalism, collaborate year after year in a joint and coordinated manner with the Mossos d’Esquadra and other security forces, ensuring the safety of our visitors, as well as with practical rescue and simulation training. This collaboration allows us to be prepared at all times”. “We will continue to jointly build an environment of trust and security to enjoy our mountains safely,” he added.
The recognition was made during the celebration, in Sort, of the Day of the Police Forces of the Alt Pirineu and Aran Region, chaired by the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, where decorations and distinctions were presented to representatives of institutions, entities and organizations that have collaborated with members of the force and to members of the Generalitat Police in recognition of their professional career and their meritorious actions.
During the event, the work of individuals was also thanked. Among these, two congratulations were given to two skiers from Boí Taüll, Aleu Rovira and Mathieu Gustave, who participated in the rescue of two mountain skiers around the summit of Puig Falcó on a day of heavy storm during the last 2023-2024 season.
The Mossos d'Esquadra police force would like to thank the two workers at the Alta Ribagorça resort for actively collaborating in the search and location of two lost skiers in very adverse weather conditions by making themselves available to the teams of the Mountain Intervention Unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra police force and the Fire Brigade GRAE. The two skiers were unable to collect this recognition in person and the head of the Boí Taüll ski area, Oscar Rodó, and the member of the resort's management committee, Xavier Gonzalez, did so on their behalf.
Ferrocarrils collaborates continuously with the Mossos d'Esquadra in carrying out mountain drills and continuous training. In this sense, the six FGC resorts are perfect scenarios for putting into practice the actions of the security forces and the resort workers themselves in adverse situations in the high mountains or in rescues on ski lifts. These drills are part of the training plans of the stations and are in addition to the other continuous training activities carried out by the workers of Ferrocarrils.
